Good afternoon, everyone,

Is it possible to sync two pumps so that they alternate running?

Thanks

David

There used to be a controller specifically for this for wavemakers, it's easy to set up in Hydros or Apex as well.

Is there a specific way you want to implement this?

Something along these lines:
RH pump @ 100% and LH pump @ 10% run for 120 seconds then switch to
RH pump @ 10% and LH pump @ 100@ run for 120 seconds then switch back

Thanks

David

A word of advice - Help others help you by asking a clear question with sufficient detail up front for someone to actually be able to give you a clear and specific answer. In this case, two critical pieces of information are missing:

What brand and model of controller?
What brand & model of pump?

I don't know the make & model of the pump. I'm looking for recommendations on what others have done with a closed loop system. Ecotech pumps supposedly have a closed loop system. Is anyone aware of other pumps with this feature? The online reviews of vectra are spotty.

I'm not clear on your definition of "closed loop"... Can you explain what you mean?

As far as controllers for supplemental powerheads, there are a lot of options. Off the top of my head, you can get something like the Hydor Koralia Smart Wave Pump, you can use the master/slave feature with Jebao powerheads, or you can go with a more robust controller system like Apex, Hydros, etc.

I will have a hole in the bottom of my tank for the input of the pump and a hole on the back wall for the output of the pump. This provides extra circulation without having visible pumps in the tank.

Got it. I don't have this type of setup and use powerheads placed in the display. Sounds like you're planning a new build... do you plan to use a controller for the tank?
