Hi folks,

I blew a ballast today (HEP 2x24W) and I’m hoping to replace it quickly. This one is available on Amazon, for delivery tomorrow:
BallastWise T5 grow light ballast with wires (DXE424HO51) for 4 F24T5 Bulbs

I’d appreciate any perspective on this. Would this work ok?

Those HEP Ballasts are very slim and small, you need to make sure that one will fit in the space. What kind of light are you replacing it in?

BRS has the exact one you need. I usually buy from them for replacement of those ballasts, depending on where you are located it might not take long to get to you.

Yeah, I could do priority 2 day... maybe I'd get it by Tuesday. That's probably ok. I use my T5s as supplements on a SPS dominated tank, so I'm just a little worried about having the lighting change for that long. Maybe it's not a big deal...

Your HEP ballast is a programmed start ballast. The one you listed looks to be a rapid start ballast. Different wiring diagram altogether. Programmed start ballasts are preferred as they result in longer bulb life. Cheaper T5 fixtures tend to have the rapid start ballasts. Whichever one you get, make sure you wire it correctly for the ballast type you choose.
