T5 Light spill question

Just wondering if I'm going to have any light spill (I'm looking at the TEK in particular) with a 6 bulb fixture on a 46 bowfront... the TEK fixture is 15.75" wide and the tank is 12" at the most narrow point, 15" at the widest.

I know the TEK's probably have somewhere between 1-3" or so on each side of the fixture before the bulbs start, if anyone has an exact measurement on that, that would be reaaaally helpful. Thanks in advance.

Just went and measured mine and got 2" of thickness from outer edge of lightfixture and the reflector.

That said, I do think you're going to end up with spill, just owing to the coverage of the bulb output

Thanks man, I appreciate it... I found one (TEK 6 bulb) for a steal but the same guy also has a 4 bulb nova extreme with SLR's for 1/3 the price so I may just go with that.... assuming 4x39 T5 plus maybe a reefbrite would be okay for most SPS?

I've owned both those fixtures and they both have 1 piece of metal bent so each lamp has it's own reflector. Not exactly a SLR but still does the work.

I wouldn't do the current for SPS, the ballasts are way less powerful than the teks. The whole SLR is nice. But IMO.n ot as big of a deal as the ballasts. The two bulb, non-slr glo-light from Hagen is almost as bright as the 4 bulb current IME
