Taking top trim off petco rimmed aquarium? Ye? No?

Got a basic 55 gallon, but the middle divider creates a shade in my tank with my lights. What are the logistics of cutting it from the side or taking off the whole rim? Will it cause it to bow doing either?

That 55g needs that center brace. Your tank will bust if you remove it. I wouldn't even modify it in the slightest

Do not remove it. Unless you want a flood, then go for it

They build them thin and cheap, needs the brace for integrity.

Yup. I've replaced the braces in bigger tanks with clear ones. I would not do that with a 55 gallon aqueon.

Having worked at a lfs years ago, I spoke to people that tried it before asking and they did bust. That center brace is necessary to keep it from bowing to the point it fails.

People would get cheap broken tanks and fill them even though we would warn them. Then some would want to make it rimless around the time rimless tanks were becoming really popular. Was bad
