Does anyone know why my yellow tang fins look like they are getting picked on. He's been in my mixed reef 30gl breeder for 2.5 years, but was ok until 3-4 ago. What I have is the tang, small file fish, couple hermits, and snails. They are fed Hikari Bio Pure spirulina, brine and shrimp once a day. But now he's back on Julian Sprungs sea veggies.

I'm thinking it's maybe the diet not getting enough veggies what do you think.

Most likely getting torn up from being so big in such a small tank. He needs a bigger home.

He's 3 inches now I got him at about 2 inches. I thought maybe I could have kept him until teaching 4 to 5 inches?

i know the common thing to say is 'hes too big for the tank' but if he was fine in the tank for 2.5 years something else must be going on with him at least thats my opinion.

HLLE and Vitamin deficiency. At minimum, feed. . . . :
Mysis shrimp
Spirulina Brine shrimp
Nori soaked in Garlic
Plankton
LRS Herbivore diet
ADD SELCON VITAMINS TO ITS FOOD

Have a voltmeter or multimeter handy ?

No I don't have any of those. I'll try the Selcon

Sure foods and vitamins will help, but when dealing with very sudden HLLE symptoms, it's a possibility the pumps or heaters could have started leaking a good amount of voltage through the water, that you yourself may not feel.
