My tang developed these white patches on its side. It also had some on its fins which is why there is fin loss. There is a little red there as well. I put it in a qt and dosed with kanaplex. It seemed to help reduce but then it is still there. My parameters are perfect, no other fish showing any symptoms. This tang is actually showing no symptoms as well. I feed a mix between pellet and sea veggies. I also use Selcon. Please help me out with this one. Thanks

What other tang do you have that's nipping it's fins?
I had bought a square Anthias that was. I took it back to the pet shop after about a week when I realized it was a bully. That's when the white patches started on the Tang. It was on the Tangs fins and bottom of belly (which you can see). I put the tang in a qt and did two cycles of the meds.

My parameters are perfect means what? Can we have even a loose idea of what they are?

As for the issues with the Tang, @Jay Hemdal , any ideas?

Had a similar Yellow Tang that was injured badly. The white patches will grow back in about 3-4 mos....

IF! ....you provide high quality food and vitamins

And! ....Keep the water parameters in range and clean

The fins may repair themselves but given how deep they are scared.... maybe not.

Give it extra TLC and vitamin (selcon) with LOTS of Protein

The food you should be feeding should be a minimum of 40% or higher in protein

I'd get high protein mysis on the menu ASAP.

Also try and feed 4 small meals a day rather than 2 larger ones

This fish has bacteria, nipping, gross deformity and start of HLLE. High quality food and vitamns will NOT turn fish to normal but offer it a chance for recovery.

Thank you for that. Should I use Selcon every day? Any suggestions on best suggested food?

It has had the deformity since I bought it from Petco. Kind of why I did, wanted to give it a good home. I've had it for over a year. I'll keep trying to give the tlc it needs.

Best foods are :

-Spirulina brine shrimp
- LRS Herbivore diet
- mysis shrimp
- small plankton
- Nori seaweed basted with garlic extract
- Hikari Marine cuisine
- Formula 2 flake and frozen
- Hikari veggie marine

Add selcon vitamins to the foods 2-3X per week and on alternating days, garlic extract for stamina and immunity health

Hannah for Calcium, alk, phosphate. Neptune Temp, Salinity along with refractometer and InkBird thermometer.
API (newer kit) for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. I test 1x a week. Running no carbon for over a month since someone suggested it could cause hlle.
All my other fish (clowns, chromis) fat, healthy. Same with Corals. Everything growing looking great. Sponges in sump, etc. No stray electricity.
