I purchased a tang today the LFS has had for several months. I've noticed he always hung out in the corners of the display tank there, and decided to bring him home. He didn't even run from the net. When I got him home and acclimated, I've noticed he has been hanging out in the corner of my tank also. He hasn't reacted to being fed, but I haven't tried spot feeding him yet. He was in a tank with a large emperor angel. He's currently in a 125g tank, and I can put the net right beside him and he won't react to it or other fish swimming by unless they touch him. Could he have received any damage from the angel? Going to give him a few days but wanted to get some outside opinions on this issue. Thanks

Could be blind or possibly traumatized in some other way. Did he try to swim away from the net when the LFS was trying to catch him? Have you spoken with the LFS about this, to determine if he was acting like this before or was he somehow damaged in transport?

LFS has had him several months, which i would think he would have starved by now if this were the case. He doesn't really respond to other fish near him, just kind of hangs out in the corner. The trauma is why I mentioned him being in a tank with a large angel. He didn't stray from the net when being caught and j can easily move objects close to him and he won't budge unless they touch him.

I'd give him a few days or so. Even if he can't see the net, he can sense it in the water. May take him a bit to realize nothing is going to bother him in your tank.

I also took an LED flashlight just to see if he would respond to that. His pupils are solid black and don't even change to the light despite it being 1'' from him. I asked the LFS about it and he said the fish has always been like that when they had him, just kind of hung out near the overflow or the corners. He'll get a good home in one of my volume tanks once I can catch him and rehome him. I have a purple tang that is kind of an *** that I'm afraid of housing him with since he apparently can't see.
