Looking great! Plumbing a straight shot down? Hows it go setting it up quick, leak testing then migrating your rock and coral??

Nice work!

Stuff is ridiculously nice. But I want a baby from that og mushroom in early pics. Lol. Great looking stuff and very nice work on your part. Congrats
Thanks! Haha ya that thing is a baddie. It’s currently being held over in the grow out but I’m excited to get it back into the new tank and on display.

Yup plumbed straight down with a couple 90 degree to get it into the sump correctly. Plumbed it and did a quick leak test.

its gone decently well, minus a couple unfortunate bumps that were due to my negligence. My challenge was maintaining my planned aquascape done out of tank with dry rock and bringing enough live rock and bio filtration over from the previous build in order to speed up the process as much as possible without doing a complete system restart. I ended up using all my planned dry rock and then used select live rock pieces to go into the display. I then packed the remaining live rock into the sump. My other challenge was what to do with my sand dwelling residents since i decided to go bare bottom in the display. I wasn’t willing to give up my leppard wrasse pair, pistol shrimp, and watchman goby. So I created an aquascape with the live rock in the refugium section of the sump and then brought over some of the original sand from the previous build. Problems solved

Between using enough previous live rock and the sand, and being able to reuse all the water it seems to have given me enough stability to even keep the encrusted sps on the original live rock alive and growing that was left when I broke off and moved the original colonies out. I’ve also dumped a few bottles of aquavitro seed into the tank as well.

Even with the planning I still lost a yellow and purple tang. I believe the water wasn’t aerated enough mixed with stress that did them in. I kick myself in the butt realizing what I could have done different in hindsight but it’s part of the hobby.

It is what it is. The key is using stuff like that to make us better reefers and being able to pass the knowledge so others can learn from us.
