I want to have two tangs in my 5 foot 120G reef. Is that too many? If I could keep two - would a kole & a purple be okay?

According to the current doctrine:
Kole tangs require at least 75 gallons and a 4’ tank.
Purple tangs require at least 120 gallons and a 5’ tank.
Purple tangs have a reputation for being aggressive and I don’t know how that will play out. A yellow tang is another Zebrasoma tang with a smaller tank demand (120 and 4’ tank).
Yea that’s super helpful! My problem is knowing how many to put into my tank. I would love to do 3 or 4 (of different geniuses) but i don’t want to push my luck! This should help

That sounds like a small tank for that many tangs. Caribbean will probably be first to get aggressive and too big.I have a 5 foot tank as well, 60" x 24" x 18"
I have a few tangs... A sailfin desjardini, a normal sailfin, a yellow tang, a gem tang, a purple tang, a Scopas tang, a blue carribean tang, an indo sailfin, a whitetail Bristletooth, 3 clowns. Tank is 6 months old
9 tangs in a 5 foot sounds a lot... i was thinking 4 maximumI have a 5 foot tank as well, 60" x 24" x 18"

Yes that is obscene some people just don't care and imagine 8-10 years is the normal lifespan for these fish. The 2 fish you suggested will be fine in that tank. Purple gets a little large but bristletooth tang is perfect, great creatures too.9 tangs in a 5 foot sounds a lot... i was thinking 4 maximum
