We are so stressed lately, we introduced 2 purple tangs in our fish tank having already a scopa tang in it and the water and it has been straight chaos!!! The Scopa has cut both tangs up that we even had to get him out to prevent any of them from getting hurt. We then put him back and he was calmed. We are now going to put them in an acclimation box hoping that they will start getting used to each other and getting along soon. This was painful considering it’s my first time doing all of this with my hubby. He actually has done this before but I was literally freaking out.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well.

Have a beautiful day all!

Tangs are beautiful, but their attitude is poor. I wish I never got these bigger ones. An acclimation box is an excellent idea. I always use them. How much room is in there?

Plenty we have a Red Sea s1000 fish tank so holds over 245 gallons more then enough for them!
Hopefully they calm down with the acclimation box

Purples are aggressive and usually willing to fight other Tangs. I have one and he loves to pick fights but mostly squabbles with my other Tangs. If you have small ones be prepared as they grow very fast.

Yes I have a small one and one a bit bigger then the small one but the bigger purple he is bigger then my cops and the scopa was the one hurting the both. Unfortunately my acclimation box was too small so now he has them cornered and won’t allow the purples to come down. I’ll take some pics tomorrow. It’s very stressful

What worked for me when I introduced my purple tang my hippo tang and my powder brown tang was to put mirrors at opposite ends of the tank. Tape them on the outside The kind that you can use for shaving (or makeup) My Scopas tang spent the next 48 hours tail striking himself in the image. Currently there is harmony in the tank. I’m planning on using them again when I introduce a sail fin in about four weeks.
