have a pic or diagram? ..i know you used to use diatom filters...
I have a thread on here someplace on how to build one.

My morning beach walk was uneventful but I did see a woman coming out of the water. An amphipod won't live in that water, and it kills eagles and seagulls, I won't put my toe in it. 🤢

But on a good note, I did see a Supermodel who walked past me. 😀
I almost never see anyone there walking and she came from way past where I could see and past me and went way farther than I could see in the opposite direction. She may be walking to France. 😳

I really didn't want to walk today because we went to a graduation party last night that started at 8:30. Who starts a party at 8:30 for "adults"? 😆

I know Millinials go out at that time or even 10:00 PM and so did I in the last century. Early in the last century. So we got home later than I wanted.

I really don't miss those days...

The configuration is wrong now that the detrius powder is not used . The aquarium water is now forced through the filter instead of being drawn through . there is a fear of the filter collapsing which I think is unfounded. If you ae worried about that put perforated a plastic sleeve in the center of the filter

What! I mean What? 😳

are you on the wrong thread? 4 words😃. Am I wrong ? why suck the water out of the tank downstream of the filter which is a pain to prime the filter canister. Why not suck it out of the tank upstream of the filter and the outlet of the pump " push " it through the filter ?

The filter primes almost instantly, which is why I put the pump on the bottom. It will run even if the canister only has an inch of water in it.

Exciting morning at 4:30. I am taking my neighbor to the hospital this morning for a colonoscopy. I'm glad it is not me. I had my last one last year and now, I am done with that. After you get to a certain age, they figure you're going to croak soon anyway so you don't need them anymore. 😳

People here depend on me because they know as a Veteran, I am never late and they can count on my no matter what time it is or weather conditions. No excuses. 😎

OK I thought that design was to stop the powder from caking at the bottom of the filter canister but I will try it . I must have been doing something wrong with mine by putting a tube in the aquarium having the whole outfit sitting on a table at a level with the bottom . It did not want to come over the top of the tank to create a siphon. I have not tried it in the configuration I mentioned before since I have not had to use it . I will try it my way and see. I think my idea is better but who am I

That used to be the motto of the Post Office as well. Not so much these days since AI took over.

Remember, Freenow, I don't use the powder anymore since I discovered that this canister with the 5 micron pores works just fine with no powder. 😎

So far my 2 Janss Pipefish are still kicking and so is my tiny bluestripe pipe. Neither one of those ever come to the front so I have to crawl behind the tank with a flashlight to see them. Thats fins and what keeps them healthy. As long as I know they are happy, I'm happy.

I still have not seen one of those Janss Pipes eating but he must be eating amphipods. The other one eats like a horse but I don't think the one that is on a diet will fare too much longer. 😬

Yes absolutely I do .Now I have a bag of powder that no one wants 😂.
So Like I said . I got frustrated trying to use it with powder after all that work. I even added a three way valve to flip it over fast when I got a siphon going . I finally did it but a lot of effort. So I put it away and will try again without the powder when I get all my other projects done . 1 ) New lighting mounts out of 25 mm extruded aluminum for aqua illumination grow and grow Lights which may end up being another bad investment . I was going on the info fo 24 inch ones and I bought 12 inch ones as a filler between my 16HD primes . The primes ( 100 watt ) are running at 70% since they go off on thermal at 100% every 5-8 minutes , and the bars are 24 watt at 100%. Any ideas how to make them run cooler ? I have been trying to find fans but none will mount properly or SECURLY .
Also putting together a new ( number #3 Tank ) Drilled the main tank for an overflow , and making the sump ( which I built ) it was fun . Salt Creep Proof with what I incorrectly call Plexi . Fighting aiptaisia in tank 1 , and trying to get tank 2 to perform properly ( grow Coral ).
Deck to repair , and Stain and other summer fun .
So no time for playing on the beach right now . Should not be doing this

For the lighting — I’d just try adding some steady airflow along the fixtures. Even a couple of simple 120mm 12V PC fans can solve overheating way better than overcomplicated mounts. It’s more about constant air movement than strong cooling.

And honestly, you’ve basically got a full setup factory going on there: 3rd tank, sump build, aiptasia battle, and now lighting upgrades 😅 The beach can definitely wait.

I still have 5 gallons of powder I have no use for.
You are just going to find a way to mount those fans. No other way

Colonoscopy. Don't remind me I have had 4 last one 2024 and I had to push for one ( did I just say that 🙃) They seem to think once you reach 70 your done for and had your time. 😔 now pop off and stop bothering us 😒
I was insulted by my Doctors receptionist for wanting to " clog up " eh atoll the health care system and given an appt in Aug. back in may . I did an end run on her the ( a word I cant say here ), and even then was encouraged to rely on the " smear test if you know what that is by the specialist
