Hey everyone, so my tank finally cycled last week on Wednesday. It is a 10 gallon, fish only tank. Using dry rock and used Dr.Tim's ammonia chloride and Microbactor 7.

The bacteria bloom has been in the tank roughly 3 weeks since I added Macrobacor 7, I had used Seachem Stability before, then ran out.

I just did a 50% water change and cleaned the glass today. If it doesn't clear up by the weekend what can I do?

I heard it is dangerous to add fish if there is a bacteria bloom. I was planning on getting my two clownfish Sunday but now not sure.

Thanks

I’d wait if it were my tank, and not add anything else. Dry rock takes the longest to get established. Does this have sand too?

Yes, I uses dry sand. How long do I wait for the bloom to dissappear? It has been almost 4 weeks!

I know nothing in keeping aquariums is fast and patience is a virtue but the waiting is alot at times. I just don't want to hurt the two clowns by putting them in with a bacteria bloom going on.

I completely understand, and sympathize with you. I think another week or two should do it as far as the bacterial bloom clearing up, maybe sooner. I suggest to not add any more bacteria or ammonia, and let it run its course.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

As others have mentioned, it looks like you have a bacterial bloom possibly from using both the Stability and the MicroBacter product. I think as mentioned it's kind of a waiting game at this point. Doing a wanter change should help. Yes, it can be dangerous to add fish while you have a bacterial bloom because the bacteria could be rapidly depleting the available oxygen in the tank, and in the worst case scenario can suffocate fish. Be patient, it shouldn't be much longer 🙂

Good luck!

This is with lights off and on, did a 50% water change yesterday afternoon and cleaned the glass. Looks much better, I'm hoping by this Sunday the bloom should be gone. If not I'll wait.

Is the a very newly setup tank? If so, this happened sometimes with newly mixed saltwater as well as new sand beds. If so, this will clear on its own in a couple days or so.

Yes it is a new set up tank.

I think that's what's going on then; newly mix saltwater is sometimes cloudy, and new sand beds can give off a bit of a dust storm. I'd give it a few days, should clear up on its own.
