Tank engulfed in long white stringy stuff

I recently brought home some new corals and my tank exploded with super long white mucus. What is this stuff and what can I do about it?? Thanks!

Total volume around 66gal including sump
Dosing Aquaforest 1-2-3 for the past 3yrs
Oversized skimmer
GFO and Carbon reactors

It's bacterial. Why, not sure. Excess carbon or nutrients fuelling it. I don't think it's the cause, but I see you have a leather coral and it's closed up. Could be chemical war fare coming from it. They are known to do that sometimes.

Syphon out what you can during a water change and keep running GAC till gone.

big water change, remove carbon temporarily, reduce feeding and check both Phosphate and No3 levels. Increase water flow a little if you can

Just to close this out, I scrubbed as much as possible and did two big water changes 5 days apart and the tank looks amazing again.
did you ever figure out what the cause was ? i got frustrated and put a ton of GFO and carbon in a high flow overflow and just had this happen down in the sump, it was either that or not rinsing the bleach out of my filter socks well enough. kind of snotty feeling, really weird, and just like that it was gone.
