Where would you add more flow in this 90g tank? (Measure about 47x21x21)
On the left side is a gyre pushing water towards the overflow.
On the back right is the return pump.
I notice a dead surface spot on the front right, food just swirls there.
Most of my corals are on the sandbed at this time.

The Gyre is centered on left, would you move it forwards or back, higher or lower?
The grye is at 70% power right now, so I could increase some.

Would a pump on the right side be worth it, if so where? Top, middle, front back?
I've been wanting to get a Vortech (MP40) pump, would that be overkill?
Thoughts?

What reasons make you think you need more flow?

The deadspot on the surface?
Detritus sinking instead of being suspended in the water column, eventually filtered?
Corals unhappy?
Air exchange / surface agitation?
Variation of flow direction?

So do you NEED more flow? Depends on what you’re seeing in your tank. Can the tank handle more flow? Sure! You could put 1 mp40 on the right wall, another gyre, 6 Nero’s scattered around the tank, whatever you like. Placement will be something you play around with. Doesn’t look like you have lots of rock or sps that make it tricky to get flow right.

For what it’s worth, I had 2 big gyres on a 60 gallon cube at 75%. Granted I had no sand but only 24” apart from each other and it was fine for a mixed reef. Could have gone with smaller/less but that was what worked for me.
