I’m about to upgrade from a 20 high reef tank. I bought a lid some months ago, but I’m not sure if it fits a 40 gallon breeder.. any help?

This is not an emergency.

What brand 40B do you have?

It’s an emergency for me because I only have one more time that I can go to any petsmart or petco because they are 2 hours+ away from me and I have a really busy schedule. Really sorry though I don’t want to sound rude. But that’s my situation currently.
I think the brand of breeder tank is aqueon. The one from petco.

A quick google search shows a 40b is the following dimensions: 36 3/16 x 18 1/4 x 16 15/16. If your hood matches that then it will fit. If not, it won’t.

I would add that you don’t want a closed glass lid on a SW aquarium. Traps heat and limits oxygenation.

Look up egg crate diffusers from Home Depot. You can cut them to size.

^^^This^^^ but you will be better served by making a DIY screen top using 1/4" mesh from BRS and anodized aluminum window screen frames from HD/Lowes. Many fish - even ones you wouldn't think could fit through - will jump right out past the eggcrate.

HTH!
