Anyone have good ideas for a DIY tank lid

i used window screen and duct taped the side on my 10 gal cube, i have to duct tape the lid to the tank whenever i get a new fish(for around a week), cause of how light it is, but its better cause they cant stun themselves if they hit it
would only recommend on a small tank

I use egg crate on my QT tanks. Never had anything get out. Presume this is a temp thing while you wait for your custom lid?

Yes as a temporary solution unless there are alternative long term solutions

Lids are pretty affordable now......$27 with a feeding door. Thats cheaper than I thinn be made DiY Amazon product

I went with the the DIY kit from Salt Water Aquarium.com - which works pretty well and costs aroun $90 and needs some work to get it to fit your tank. I've been seeing a few posts from people who went with a Kraken lid -which are custom made for a wide variety of tanks - https://krakenreef.com/ - these are 2x the cost but look pretty nice.

You could do something similar on your own with window screening trim and some clear netting, however I’d go this route.

Ya, i thought the same. In the end, you need to get into your tank multiple times a day and it pays to have something sturdy and fits well - not a huge price to pay for reliability and functionality
