My tank water smells fishy. Like when you catch a fish in a stream, it smells like the slime coat that the fish has. It doesn't smell like the ocean, just like fish. That fish smell.
Fishy. It smells like fish.
It smells fishy.
Fish.

Why? What's going on with it?

Definitely run some carbon and keep skimmer clean my skinmmer starts to smell within 2-3 days of cleaning
I struggle with a slight oceanic smell from my 220 and am gonna add a bathroom exaust fan to the closet I have my sump in

Lol we run carbon, should we run more?
Skimmer was on a low setting so we increased it.

Did you just feed mysis or anything? Usually the oils will float to the top and give it a "fishy lake" smell.

Put some water in a white bucket, if its yellowish, then time to change your carbon. Make sure to rinse it before, or else youl get dust in your tank

Sometimes, but we usually get rid of the oils and just feed the mysis.

Our water is crystal clear. I changed the water and turned up my reef octopus, I'll check the smell tomorrow.
