I’m proud of myself today. I finally completed my 48x24x31 stand. I went with 3/4oak on the outside and a 2x4 frame inside. Build was about $200, so I could have just bought one but haha. Worth it because I had fun and had no idea plywood can get so pricey lol.

You could have bought one for $200, but it would be particle board and rob you of the satisfaction that comes from building things with your own hands.
+1
My old stand I’m upgrading from is made of that. Recently when I went to replace carbon in the reactor, the screws yanked from the wall pulling out bits of particle board and the reactor.

I have had a few store bought stands.
The particle board one...disintegrated rather quickly.
Had a solid wood one as well...the top warped from shoddy construction.

I built a rocket engineer type stand 5 years ago for my 75g. It was a project to build and its heavy, but its SOLID and has survived a move to a new place and is still in great shape. Id never use a storebought stand again.

So great job and take satisfaction in building something that will last. The best part, you made it yourself with a fun helper!

I have built several stands using rocket engineer's plans ,, I think that post has helped more people in this Forum than any other post :)
Past, I didn’t post it here because R2R wasn’t a big deal when I posted it. :)

OP: Looking good. Make sure to link in a build thread going forward so we can all admire the results,
