I have a 23 1/8 x 23 - 23 deep/ about 50 gal tank. In my infinite wisdom because my filter did not fit I removed one the top frame pieces not thinking it might jeopardize the integrity of the tank. Am i looking at big water mess? I leaning on re-gluing it. Do have any idea?

Thank You

Given the frame was mitered at the corners makes it far less likely that it provides much strength to the tank.

How thick is the glass?

I built a 90g tank (36x30x20) with 3/8" glass and it's totally rimless (top and bottom).

You might consider adding a glass euro brace along the back glass. I'd suspect you are right at the ragged edge of reliability with that size tank and 1/4" glass.
