With thousands of copepod species, selecting the right copepods for your system can be challenging. At www.reefbysteele.com we have done the research so you can purchase the correct copepods for your tanks needs.

Benthic copepods (crawlers), these pods are the micro CUC powerhouses. Combine their voracious appetites with their nearly microscopic size, they are able to get to the roots of your nuisance algae issues to help prevent it’s recurrence. They are also the menu choice of what we refer to as Pod Hunters. These include Mandarins, Scooter Blennies, certain wrasses (Possum, Mystery, etc.), Sand Sifting Gobies and more. We culture 4 distinct species of benthic copepods, available in our BLENDED, PREMIUM, and MAJESTIC COPEPOD BUFFETS.

Pelagic copepods (free swimmers), these pods are an excellent food source for high metabolism fish which we call cruisers. These are the fish that include multiple daily feedings in their care recommendations. These include Anthias, certain wrasses (Leopard, Blue Star, etc.) We culture 4 distinct species available in our MIXED, SELECT, and ENERGETIC COPEPOD BUFFETS.

We also offer Copepod Buffets with a combination of both benthic and pelagic copepods for tanks containing both Hunters and Cruisers, and for those seeking greater biodiversity. These are available in our COLOSSAL, TITANIC, and GIGANTIC COPEPOD BUFFETS.
