I had a 4 stage aquatics life RODI unit that was working fine and I added the upgrade water saver 2nd membrane attachment. I replaced the sediment filter and the carbon filter with new 1 micron inserts and got a new DI. I have the in line TDS meters on it and I have 2 TDS out of the membranes before the new DI and 2 TDS coming out of the DI. They are both 100GPD membranes, is that too much water going through it to filter? Do I need to switch to the triple DI with 2 single beds and 1 mixed bed? Not sure what I could be missing here.

Why dont you go back to what was working fine originally as you stated.

The resin is either not compacted enough or a bad batch or you have the water bypassing the resin altogether.

I agree. Check the resin.

I’ll try pushing it down because it is brand new and the tubes I have the testers on are on each side of the DI and I saw water going in. And fill it. That being said it filled faster than it ever has. I just assumed it was because I have 2 membranes now pushing it so much faster.

Well it’s definitely a issue with the resin, try emptying it and refilling, best way to compact the resin is to add maybe 4 tablespoons at a time, add some rodi water to it, this getting rid of any air bubbles, give it a bang on the counter then add another 4 tablespoons etc you need to fill it till you can’t possibly get any more resin in.

I didn’t buy bulk resin or the pouches I just ordered a pre packed container so I can’t add more. It’s this one https://a.co/d/9dnpv0Z. Is it common for these to come too loose?

I'd revert back just to test and for sanity.

I switched to seperate anion and cation containers because usually one gets used up quite a bit faster than the other. At the rate I'm going I will replace anion 5-6x before cation is depleted.

I can’t think of anything else it could be apart from it being a bad batch of resin…if your tds after the membrane and before the resin is 2 for both membranes combined then your resin should be more than capable of taking that to zero, I would be asking for a refund and purchasing from a reputable place.

Resin can be reused when you buy it, you want virgin resin.

Your RO water may be “bypassing” your DI filter due to some plug. Rinse again carefully and flush out where water enters the filter, and try again.

I get this once in a while when I reload DI.

Run at least an Hour, then measure again.

Just wanted to let you know you were right the container came too loose. I smacked it on the ground several times and now I’m getting 0TDS

I am getting 8 TDS going into the brand new (changed and re-packed 3 times) DI canister and getting the same after the DI filter. I used to get 0 TDS before adding the 75gpd upgrade. What are you saying exactly about something being stuck or loose?

Rinse out exactly what?
