So I am relatively new and am essentially fully stocked on my tank, but it seems wrasses are extremely popular. I get the sense it is not only looks but their behavior. I would love to know who loves wrasses and why!

@Slocke has some experiences with wrasses

There's a ton I could say here, but to put it simply, there are 71 genera of wrasse and almost 500 species. Compare that to other popular fish like tangs, six genera and 86 species, or angelfish, eight genera and 88 species. The variation in color, size, temperament, etc, makes wrasse the best tank fish.

Because they are cool. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They all have different temperaments. They offer lots of variation in color. They also are a tool to a point because they control pests.

I have 2. A cleaner wrasse and a melanarus. They get along great and both have fun personalities. They added a lot to the tank.

Different colors, shapes, behaviors. You really get hooked on them.

They really are pretty! I guess to fully understand I will have to get some wrasses someday!

They are amazing fish. Active, colorful, unique personalities and behaviors, and there is a wrasse for just about every system, from the small reef tanks to the giant predator systems.
