Hey everyone,

I ordered a 150G and unfortunately it’s not ready yet, however my Tomoni tang and clown are done with their QT cycle.

I also have a 40breeder with rock cycling in it temporarily. I’m using a small wavemaker and HOB filter for water filtration.

I’m going to add an aqua max HOB skimmer to export nutrients since I’m going to be adding fish. I want to keep quarantining fish so I need to get the fish out of the 20g AT system.

Do I keep the HOB filter or remove it from the breeder? I don’t want a massive nutrient trap.

I’m familiar with tradition tanks with sumps, just a bit confused on the hang on filter stuff.

I'd keep it on and run carbon if it were me, especially if it's just holding your fish til the big boy is set up.

**Update** Breeder has been doing well. The fish are thriving and the Aquamaxx 1.5 HOB skimmer is doing its job, however the HOB filter is creating lots of bubbles. The carbon does seem to work but may consider taking it down and probably run it as/when needed.
