Tenius lost all color during shipping.

I recently purchased a tenius from an online vendor that was a wysiwyg. When it came in it had good polyp extension, but lost all of its color. When this happens to u guys want are some things that i can try to do to get the color back asap? I am also kind of new to sps. Have been keeping them for the last 6 months or so. All others in my tank are fine. Thanks

What did you purchase and do you have a picture of what you thought you were buying and what you got?

Did you acclimate the lighting ?

Where exactly does it sit in your tank. Consider the amount of lighting it is currently getting.

Shipping stress (too hot or too cold) leading to bleaching with expulsion of zooxanthellae. Put it in an area with 100-150 PAR and consider the addition coral food to get it through its bleaching. Most corals will reacquire their symbionts given time and proper care.

That’s why I’m so iffy about shipping …

I agree with Sculpin, in my experience I’ve put them low in the tank on a rack and just let it get acclimated, just maintain parameters and slowly move it up.

Since you mentioned you are new to SPS, I will warn you that these corals need stability to thrive. Once they change color, getting them back to what you saw in the picture could take many months. Trying to get it back quickly (additives, moving it about the tank, etc) is a quick way to finish it off, ime.

Put it somewhere in the tank with good light and wait until it decides what to do next. The good news is sometimes these will pop back in a month or two! :)
