Tenuis or Millepora?

I think I am ready to take the plunge into acros. I got a green slimed to test my success at keeping them. If it’s not much of a challenge and I can do it, I was wondering what the next step up is? I like the fuzzy appearance of Millepora but not sure if Tenuis is the more logical step. I’ll also add I can probably max out at 250 PAR where I want to put it. Thanks so much!

Tenuis, that really low par for most acro especially mili

Your going to want a bit more par for millepora mine sit at around 500+par and are getting blasted with flow.

Agree they can take stupid ammounts as long as they get good flow

Tenuis and millepora both tend towards being picky. I would probably try a "tort" next if I were you, be it Miyagi, Cali, Ice, etc. They are hardy and good growers.

If you do well with a "tort", maybe try a low-end tenuis, like Cultivated Reefs "Hairy Green Monster". Green tenuis are the hardiest and cheapest of the designer tenuis. If you keep that alive, next try a millepora.

Thank you all for the input. Hopefully my green slimer will survive. Then I will consider tenuis. Millepora looks so pretty though with the fuzzy polyps, but unfortunately lights aren’t going to get there. I’m running 2 Red Sea Reef LEDs on the 250 (3 ft tank) at 80%, acclimating to 90% and eventually 100%. Hopefully that will help bridge the gap.

Milly easy.
150 par min and upwards if done slowly.
Was a 1” frag, slow to start, nothing for 4 months then bang.
Now is slightly bigger than my hand.
Forgiving as SPS goes.

Although 250-350 PAR is typically optimal, each coral has its own best range. In my experience, Acropora tolerate 150-600+ PAR. You’ll probably be fine in most areas in your tank.
