After picking up some sps frags tonight I decided to test the water coming out of the bags. Anyone else do this to see how the coral might respond?

I was a bit surprised.

1.029
Mag 1395
Cal 390
Alk 4.5 (tested twice)
Nitrate 15ish

All tested on salifert.

I run
1.024
Mag 1200
Cal 395
Alk 9.1
Nitrate 20

Anything I should expect? I floated and exchanged water for 4 hours to bring them in line. Lights on tomorrow will tell all.

I hope you dipped your acro frags with CoralRX or something similar before you put them into your tank.

I've never measured bag water for anything except salinity so no help there. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

looks like water evaporated to me and very little water volume in a bag the all will get consumed quick.

I just float the bag for a few minutes then add to the tank, its never been an issue for me.

Yep they soaked in Seachem reef dip for 30 min.

I’ve tested every lfs I’ve gotten things from. As well as my wholesalers I buy from. Lfs are usually pretty sketchy. Depending on how good a shop it actually is.
