Ok, so first off I need to clarify three things.
1) I have nothing but respect for first responders/military.
2) This is not a rant or complaint, I just want to express how overworked the Nashville police are.
3) Please keep any political replies to yourself, this is a thank you to law enforcement, not a discussion on city funding.
The Nashville police are completely overloaded and it is mind blowing. I was recently in a hit and run and had to schedule a call 3 weeks later to talk to a detective. No joke, we had a follow up call after that and had to schedule it 4 weeks out. If that does not show they are over worked, I do not know what does.
Next, I recently helped a man who got in a wreck (with himself) on a dark 2 lane highway in a bad storm. He was blocking the road and in a dangerous situation. I got out to help him, it quickly became apparent he was not in a good frame of mind. Between bleeding from his head, and very obviously being on some sort of narcotic, he became irate and threatened to shoot me on the spot. The police had been called about the wreck, and I called the non-emergency line to update them about being threatened. It took the police almost 2 hours to arrive on scene, and when I spoke to them, they did not want a statement because they were so busy. I understand that calls are prioritized, but when a man threatens to start shooting people, you would expect the police to arrive faster than 2 hours.
I am not one to exaggerate, everything is 100% true.
3 nights ago I witnessed a man try to break into our neighbors house and got it on my home security camera.
2 nights ago there were 3 shootings in the neighborhood/apartment sort of thing that is 2 minutes away from mine.
Today there have been another 3 shootings in that same apartment complex in the past 5 hours. (It is weird, it is like a neighborhood with apartments in it as well all managed by same HOA)
Things are getting out of hand, all of this has happened within a mile or so radius of my house. I cannot even imagine the amount of crime throughout the city
To all first responders (specifically any Nashville Metro), thank you.
Edit- To clarify, this is not a post about my own problems or a disguise to complain, this is simply the anecdotal evidence I have on hand to support what I am saying.
