The “dark side” of bubble coral

Just noticed that my bubble coral has a very different morphology of growth in dark shaded parts:

That's very peculiar and probably the biggest bubble coral colony I've seen. How big is that one? Looks great!

Interesting. I have had mine over 7 years and it's close to a soccer ball size when fully inflated. I've never seen it do anything like yours. Could be because it's on its own rock in an open area but it's always roundish in appearance.

That's very peculiar and probably the biggest bubble coral colony I've seen. How big is that one? Looks great!
about 25-30 cm in length. It constantly fights against the GSP underneath and a nearby Galaxea.
