December 19th, 2019. I am on a roll. Might as well add the rock since it is cycled. Alright decided on this scape

December 19th, 2019. Might as well transfer the clowns Linda and Charlie and the corals over from the 10 gallon. Did keep the 10 gallon running if ammonia registered. No ammonia registered. The rock was cycled and only 5 mins from the house. Instant tank! I love this rock

February 12th, 2020. Decided to add a refugium with mangroves. Skimmer close to the front so it is easy to get to. Did this with a basket from the dollar store to section off a part of the middle chamber. Also added miracle mud rubble rock and a few bio blocks to the bottom of the basket

Awesome. I've been thinking about how I could add a 'fuge to my incoming WB Marine 70.3. This makes me feel confident I can make it work.

Also... mangroves, huh? Where do pick up mangroves? Do they need more light than a standard refugium light?

I bought my mangroves off of eBay. I think I would need quite a lot of them to see some sort of serious nutrition export but I am not certain. However I do enjoy mine. They are doing well under my grow lights. Their leaves need to be rinsed with fresh water I used distilled to keep salt off of them. I have a small spray bottle and spray the leaves in the morning

What made you change the sand?
The special grade was a courser substrate and was becoming a detritus trap. Switched to a denser finer substrate to help to keep the detritus closer to the top of the surface of the sand. Additionally I will switch to light weekly sand cleaning instead of monthly sand cleaning. Will also start to stir the top of the sand which I was not doing previously. I also like the look of the sugar sand

I have a 60 cube from waterbox as well, (70.3) with no sand. Run a small icecap algae scrubber and a big bubble magus skimmer. I have a ton of flow. No algae or diatom issues. I have had a DSB in the past and find if you don't vacuum them every week, they end up causing headaches. I am running Bare bottom now with AWC at 2 gallons a day. I am curious as to your growth. IT looks like you spent a fortune in the first 6 months. Will be nice to see everything grow in.

Same here. Have never seen any algae on the rocks the only place it grows is in the sump and on the glass in the display scrap once a week. Working on a diy ATS right now fixing your post some pictures. Trying to slow growth at the moment zoas are growing into the frag rack and euphylia are splitting heads so running out of room so have lowered the alk over the last two months and working on lowering nitrates from 10 to 5 basically switching my coral from growth mode to color mode. This is a recent FTS. Currently working on a 110 30’ deep with 55 gallon sump with rocks still curing. Unable to view the attachments you posted :(
