I got a pretty good deal and it came with a 2’ 1/2 foot cheap led black box all for 175 with the stand and a ton or random things bunched up with it

So mind you I still have my 40 breeder with a 20 gallon drip tower sump and I’m starting to plan on when to swap out my fish and coral etc.. I’m a really big nerd when it comes to the hobby so I did some through research and choose to let the tank cycle for a month

So cycle has gone smoothly suffered a loss of a pair of tomato clowns to velvet made the dumb decision of putting them in the tank to dose copper and well they passed and now the tank has parasite in there and I chose to dose copper anyway and give the tank another month

So now I’ve finally started working on my sump I’ve had a 30 long sitting around from an old tank I had setup and it seemed perfect only thing is it didn’t fit under the stand so I emptied the tank and cut the middle brace of the stand I got it back in with a bracket at the top so that it was level and then used some epoxy ,wood glue and wood filler I still have to sand it back and repaint but for the most part all done so for the sump I bought some tinted roofing panels from Home Depot and cut them to size making 4 chambers , layout is return chamber- refugium - skimmer chamber-return I don’t know exactly why I went with this style just at the time it made sense to me

The tank ended up being tempered I wish I knew before hand but I guess we live and we learn so I went with a hob overflow (Pf-300 eshopps) so far I’ve only had the tank over flow once and it hasn’t lost syfone since fingers crossed :/

Are you sure the back glass is tempered? Almost all the time, every time in my experience, only the bottom glass is tempered.

Adding copper to your display is something you definitely don't want to do. Get a test snail or two in before adding in the bulk of your cuc.

I thought so too right after I did but the extra month and water changes really helped

So I just figured out my tanks actually not tempered so that’s a plus I’ll be drilling it soon but for a return pump I’m using a amazon brand return and it’s pretty good I bought a back up just in case too , for flow I went the cheap route again and for now I’m using some sun sun wave makers facing front to back to give me a gyre and it works for now

For plumping I’m running my hose from my return the the tank that a 3/4 hose adapter to 1in lock line and I have just a simple wide mouthed output for it for the overflow I’m running a 1in pvc pipe to a 90 3/4 connector to my filter sock

For skimming I’m using a cheap amazon 15 dollar wood air stone skimmer I’m upgrading in the next week I’ve just used it more as a reference to space for bio media I’m using matrix, lava rock, and ceramic rings . In my refugium I’ve got a little 200 gph pump moving my chateo (currently stuck on some zip ties) I run two 150w heaters and since it’s winter and I don’t have my fan hooked up to sump but it’s a little office fan hooked up to my to my timer for a cycle of about 20 times every 24 hours it runs for 30 mins , I’ve got a regular led bulb with a clamp light for now going with led bar soon
