I had the opposite results when I ordered my 170. The site said 6 months so I had a plan in place for the wait.
2 weeks after I placed the order I got an email that said it had shipped.
It arrived in less than 3 weeks from order.
I get it it if you cant wait but the systems are worth the wait, imo.
I have had so many different systems over 30+ years that I wanted a complete system and was willing to wait.
The reason was an lfs had the ext 50 as a frag system and I was surprised at the quality and the complete system was simple. The stand was a plus as I would never do a wood stand again.
Sometimes a system is worth the wait, but only you can decide that.
Good luck with whatever system you go with.
Thats good info as getting the best system is what matters in the end. The 112ext at 36in x36in is ideal for my lighting and everything.

I have always loved that IM 112 gallon lagoon style tank. It is kind of the perfect sized tank for my dream (but practical) reef tank. I am curious why you like the EXT? I have always considered the INT, but I am a novice to sumps. Would you be willing to explain why you prefer the EXT? I would love to hear your opinion with your experience. Thank you.

My guess, is that it’s for a smaller amount of space taken up inside the tank. The ext needs to be a little farther from a wall but gives more room inside the display and less you have to scape around

The main thing that drives me to the ext 112 is the box shape and having that full 36in all the way around like a peninsula without the one long length on 2 sides.
My plan is to make an island in the center that not closed off but where all coral will hang out. I already know how I want to do the flow and thats 2 gyres vertical on the overflow side and let them blast around the tank and maybe something small in the center for randomness.

Thats it as yeah its away from the wall and I want it to be just for installing pumps and wiring.

Here is my only problem is MOUNTING THE LIGHTS!!!! I am terrified on how to go about this as I am not good with diy and I know this could break me on this tank lol.
1. The tank space is a 36in square
2. I have 4 xr15 g5 blue(never run above 35%) and they are way enough for the space, but they will have to run 2 on front and 2 on back as 4 in a row will not work I dont think.
Should I just invest the 500$ in 2 rms rails (I know nothing about them) I think the price of these are way too much but might be my only solution
or
Sell my whole set of hybrids and xr15s and buy 2 Kessil A500x then hang them from the ceiling?
This is my number one problem right now and it's driving me nuts!!!!

That Kessil A500x looks really good and the more I look at them, the more I like it even though they will have to be hung

So I have decided to go with the IM ext 112 and use it like a square peninsula tank.
Yes I am probably going to have a single Kessil a500x tuna blue as the only light source because even with shadows the tank is only 19in tall and for a mixed tank it will be perfect.
If I was going pure sps then yes I would keep my xr15's but I will offer them uup for sale to the guy getting my current tank.
Not set in stone but the planning has begun and I am excited!!!!
