Who doesn't like green slimmer? I have a couple pieces that have made it to the top of my water. I wondering how far out of the water it can grow. Will it stop growing or will it flatten out at the top?

This is from earlier this year. The slimmer still had a little room left. I love the silhouette of the starry blenny standing in the cave (like a merman).

My current tank is 36" x 24" and around 22" tall. I don't have any more room for coral.

I purchased a used 300 deep a couple of months ago (72" x 36" x 27"). It will be a while before I can afford the equipment to run it. Until then, I will just keep gluing coral to the back and side glass. ;)

Very nice. You could always just cut them and send to me if you want to. Lol. :D

You should cut them, I've seen them start to flatten out at the surface and start to shade itself, causing it to slowly dye from light deficiency.

I have seen them flatten before but only when there was too little surface tension. If that does happen you will have plenty of time to cut the flat top off before the coral gets shaded and dies.

I say make a few trimmings and try to take them to a LFS near by! They may give you some store credit you could use towards your equipment needs

This is awesome! I say frag it a few inches below the water surface, then rinse and repeat as needed. Also send me a piece!

Green slimmer is truly an amazing fast grower. This coral started as a < .5" crumb that a friend gave me in January of this year 2019. It has grown >5" in less than a year!

I have decided to move the full colony to a much lower spot in the tank. I would like to leave it, but it is already shading other corals.

It will be intresting to see how the decrease in light affects the growth rate.

The turquoise stag is also a very fast grower. However, it has branched across more than grown up.

On the other hand, Exquisita stag, Blue berry stag, and Rocky mountain stag don't seem to be super fast growers... I wish they were. :)

Send them to me!!! (Wonder how many people have posted this in addition to me. Lol) I’ve been wanting green slimer!! In all seriousness, I would cut the branches. It will just die out of the water, plus it will start to block your light.
