I took down my biocube to fix a leak in the rim back in June. After transferring rock and livestock, I drained it and moved the tank to my backyard so I could remove the sand and rinse it out. Things came up and it sat in my backyard in the sun for 3 or 4 days. One of those days it rained, the others it was over 80 degrees. Then I finally scooped out the sand into a trashbag and put the tank in my garage to work on later. The bag of sand sat next to my BBQ for 2 months. Last week I finally got around to fixing the leak in the rim, then I put the sand into a bucket and stuck my hose full blast into it for about 30 min. I proceeded to fill the bucket and drain off the nasties over the course of a couple days. It sat full of freshwater for 1 night. Then when I thought it was as clean as I could get it, I put the bucket in my garage to help it dry. When we hit 90 degrees a couple days in a row, my garage was about 100.
And finally last weekend I added that sand back to my biocube. I found this guy the next morning. This hobby just continues to amaze me.
