... You are adopting a kid, in that agencies eyes. Lifelong commitment, no backsies.

I adopted my malamute ages ago at a petsmart... Little dude came with a list of requirements a mile and a half long.

I'm not ashamed to say I followed literally none of them and he lived 25 happy, silly, grumpy, old dog years.

So spoiled.

Getting a dog that size to 25 years is quite an accomplishment. I had one that made it to 18, but it was a Shih Tzu. My oldest Husky will be 13 May 5th.

In hindsight it was an act of pure selfishness, but I still to this day miss that dog.

He was so much more than a pet to me. As he got older, he developed a condition common to GSDs where he could not feel or coordinate his hind legs. laying down and getting up confused him so much. Yet he was too stubborn to let it affect him, so he'd roll his hips until he felt his front paws touch his back, and push himself up using that sense of touch to orient his hind legs...

I miss how intelligent he was sometimes, especially after the little husky you see in that picture... that's him teaching her where all the cool things in the yard are...

Yup, remember having to do that all the time. Wonder how many here are old enough to remember that :p
Probably not many. And having to get up from your seat to go to the television to "click" through the channels. While color TVs were available when I was a kid, they were very expensive, hardly anyone had them, and only a few shows actually broadcast in color. Not many people actually had color TVs until around 1965, if I remember correctly. I was about 9 before I actually saw a color TV broadcast. While Disney had "The Wonderful World of Color" TV show in the 50s, the very first color show I can remember seeing was "Johnny Quest." It had to be the first prime time animated series and it was broadcast in color. :-)

Everyone waited for Sunday nights to see who was going to be on the Ed Sullivan Show. He premiered all of the big acts back then, from Elvis to the Beatles. I saw the Beatles first TV appearance and it was amazing. :)

The Miracle won't happen in 2 days. I'm going to take my time. She's a dream tank. I'll have to work on her scape first. I want her to be amazing! There are also some plumbing parts that I'll have to order. Some of the stand details are going to take time too. Making sure everything fits right.

Illinois sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just in case I didnt do enough !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cares act's allows for essential works who have lost wages because of covid to file for unemployment. Illinois is not doing that. I haven't lost much, just shy of a house payment. Heather and I are ok financially. I would not prefer to take this hit especially since federal government provided the funds. Illinois is not set up for it. I'm reaching out to state reps and federal reps.
