Which tang?

My Monti Caps got out of control. Too big for me anyway. This is just before I busted them all up and brought them to the LFS. I didn't get much for them either. Metal Halide lighting.

Not the best picture of my tank, but I did notice that it is one of the few that show the arch and the space behind it.

While looking for those pics, I ran across this old video. At one point, I had a Tunze Wave Box in there (along with the closed-loop and an MP-40). Always liked the flow and back and forth motion it gave the tank. But the pump went out in it and I didn't want to spend the money on a new one.

At about the 1 year mark we finally have coralline in Pirate’s Reef. :)

My 20 tall was setup lil over a year ago now the 40 I transferred everything into in July, finally has coraline starting as well.
I see some people scraping it within 3 months and some it takes a year...what gives?
Stability?
Calcium/Alk levels elevated?
Y'all just better than us?? ;Smuggrin

I think its excess cal and alk, in my RS 130 I ran Red sea coral pro salt and my numbers were pretty up there, once coraline got introduced it took off. Added note, I was running kalk in my ATO as well at the time.

I was dosing 2-part and started putting kalkwasser in my top off water instead. That's the only thing I did differently, other than add some frags from Marine Farmers a few months back.

I can kill a Montipora faster than anyone. Easiest coral right?
I have the same issue, Monti cap fragments just go pale then white, no matter what water or light settings I put them under...

They just die... like, within a week die.
I hope to God I can do a red monti cap.

Okay, gotta get you guys a piece of my slow burn monti. That thing grows like a weed. I’ve had pieces break off and just left them there....still grows..just laying in the sand bed

@Katrina71... hope you can too. Already have a piece set aside for you
