Hey peeps,, I picked up a 40gal breeder tank with plans of combining my two 20gal invert tanks. I have a spot that I wanna put it but have to add a piece of plywood over it first to spread the weight out and stable tank
The tank is 36 inches long and my table is 30 inches long,, so lm putting a piece of plywood (.75 thick) 40 inches long over top of the table/ stand, hopefully it will be enough to hold the weight,, I’ll stain it and clear coat it to make it look nice so wife doesn’t flip on my new project
Lol. I plan on using the small stand for new setup

mornin' Paulie ,may want to consider ,3 pieces 2x10 ,or reinforce ply with 3 runners of 1x ,ply will most likely curl at the 3'' overhang points

Was planning on adding legs to all for corners and dress it up to match bedroom furniture, happy wife happy hobby

Rethinking my approach to adding to stand for the 40,, gonna take Fishguy242 advice and add 2-12 boards underneath the 3.5 quarter plywood to add support,, thanks Frank for idea

Ok got platform all assembled and stained,, didn’t have to go overboard because you’ll never see it, just the edges of it and I’m gonna wrap that in trim

Ok tank sparkly clean and sitting in the sunbeam,, next thing to do is empty first 20gal tank and get it off stand,, put new one in its place,, I’m reusing all water that’s already in both tanks,, I’ll add what ever I have to

Well that was a fun afternoon,, got everything done and setup, just gotta let the water clear up from the move( bout 2hrs) then all that’s left is 3 piece of trim,, easy peezy
Hey frank ive got bunch of dry rock 3 weeks ago and have had them in ocean water with circulation,, would it be ok to add to invert tank today or should I wait awhile /@fishguy242

It’s actually a old nightstand that one of the 20gal invert tanks on, I jus made a sturdy platform out of 2x12 and.75 plywood
Treated everything with mold resistant and water proof primer then painted boards underneath then wood stained the plywood, then hit it all with couple layers of clear coat
Then used 3 inch screws to attach it to the nightstand, just gotta put trim around it to make it look more like furniture
