I very recently lost my first Leopard Wrasse; didn't even have the chance to get to know what it was like and it still hurt. The LFS is giving me another tomorrow, visibly more outgoing, eating frozen and flake and very beautiful (a Potter's). Getting the QT heated tonight and picking it up tomorrow. I hope this one makes me forget about the other.
We learn and do better the next time.

Do you have a bed of sand in the qt?

I have a bowl of sand, about 3.5 inches.
They told me she was treated for worms and I believe them but I'm going to treat with Prazipro all the same.

I love my 2 leopards. I lost one early like you. If they are not collected/shipped right they are doomed it seems. Otherwise they seem to do great.

I'm partial to the Leopards, for some reason. I still want a Blue Star, which would be my last fish for this tank. That will be in a few weeks though, and I'm going to be a LOT more picky than I was the first time.

This tank transfer method sounds way less stressful for the fish because I would not be adding any medication and I think I will try this next time. One last question. Is the salinity the same as the display tank in the transfer tanks?

Yes. I usually watch mine for several weeks after TTM in a cycled QT to fatten them up, observe for other infections and get them ready to compete for food in the DT.

I brought home the Potters Leopard tonight. She's swimming around, eating (pig!), very calm and alert. I really like her, she's beautiful! She comes over as soon as she sees me coming. This one is going to make it, I can tell...

I'm getting ready to order two wrasse a Hoeven's Wrasse and a McCoskers from Vivid Aquariums. I will have two purple firefish in my tank and these two will be my next addition. For the Hoeven's I'm trying to decide whether I should get a small female 1.5 - 2.5" or a medium male 2.5 - 3.5". I would really like to start out with them on the smaller size, I'm looking forward to watching them grow. If I get the female what are the chances she will turn into a male? I would really like to get a male & female Hoeven & the male McCoskers, but my tank is only 75g and I have other fish on my list to add to it, another but, I love these fish they are so beautiful, so I really want a pair. I can't wait to see them in my tank!!!

The chances are very good that the female will transition into a male, and likely pretty quickly.

I would strongly advise against a pr in your size tank. Wrasses don't form true bonded prs, rather gender is determined by social interactions. Basically, a malepicks on females to keep them females, but often in aquaria the female will still transition with a male present, and if this happens the 2 males will fight, in many cases, to the death of one of them.

Noted! I would not want that to happen, I'm really trying to have a colorful yet peaceful tank! So a small female Hoeven and small male McCoskers it is then. I hope to upgrade in a year or two and get a 200g tank. My wishlist is much to big and sad day :(, I have to limit myself. Thank you for the advice and quick response, it is much appreciated!

I made a mess top recently but my Radions with its tank mounts are getting in the way. I will have to recut it to accommodate the stands.
