Someone is getting bolder every day! And apparently really likes prime reef flakes.

It’s weird how confident mine is. It’s absolutely tiny compared to my other fish but since the cleaner wrasse nothing bothers it and it just does it’s own things.

I added a few extra fish in with him today and they seem to make him a lot bolder.

1.5" tenneti tang and .75" emperor angel.

Personally I wouldn’t add anymore to an established specimen.
My pair may have killed off the third however I can’t 100% say if they did or didn’t kill her off.

We can’t get a rhomboid for under $200 over here! And that’s a female not even a male!

Welp, my rhomboid is having similar swimming issues that my naokos had. She's pumping her little fins but can't control her body and just keeps spinning and being pushed around. How in the heck do people keep these fish.. is there anything worth trying to help fix this of its a swim bladder thing or anything? Any way to decompress the fish or something idk..

I agree with @Slocke and I think that’s UNWD, especially if it’s being blown around and if it’s back is arched downwards. Could you post maybe a photo or a video to have a visual?

It’s been a couple of weeks, and my Golden Rhomboid is really settling in. She is much less skittish and has started showing some of her personality.

I agree with @Slocke and I think that’s UNWD, especially if it’s being blown around and if it’s back is arched downwards. Could you post maybe a photo or a video to have a visual?

Hmm, it's hard to tell now, she's looking pretty nervous and just hanging out at the top of the tank. I have a video, no spinning but she's not really swimming around much.. damsel lunged at her but that's the only time I've SEEN it do that

Wrasses usually go to the top and corners to get away from aggression.

I feel a little better, lunch time she got moving around more even fought a little for some food. I meant to keep her in the acclimation box for a few more days but the lid got pushed up by flow overnight. You think I should move her again?

Looks fine to me,swimming wise, and certainly not UNWD.

As said above though, fish (especially wrasses) will often times go to the top to avoid aggression.

Is this a new fish to your tank? Or just an acclimation box for observation?

It honestly look like it's new to your tank, and not use to fighting your flow, the reason it's staying at the top is there is less flow to fight.

NY aquatics has choati's in, but at $279! I don't have enough credit after buying the tamarin from him, and since I just bought a stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator, I simply don't have the money to pay for the chaoti.


He does have a beautiful negrosensis fully eating prepared food. So for mothers day I bought my wife the fish(one of her favorites, that recently died to jumping). used up 99% of my credit.

I'll guess at some point be on the lookout for another choati in the future.

I don’t have a ton of experience, but in the month I’ve had my rhomboid she went from very skittish the first week (but still eating little bits) to having a voracious appetite and now is out all of the time. She doesn’t swim, swim, swim all day, but kinda likes to chill and hang out in her shadier area. She doesn’t like any type of agression though, so whenever the tomini tang and coral beauty start to “size eachother up” she scoots away quick.

Id just turn down the flow pretty low during feeding and feed really heavy to see if you can get her woofing some food down. The video wasn’t very large on my small phone screen, but it looked your fish was in some really high flow and looked kinda weary of some others. I’d watch like a hawk for aggression from tank mates.

Now that mine isn’t really fearful of the other fish being mean, she likes to hang out with coral beauty in the shade spot.

Yea, thanks guys for all the great responses. So I added her to acclimation box yesterday. She was in there all day until lights out. Right at lights on this morning I went to check on her but didn't see her in the box. After a few seconds I noticed the lid had been pushed open like a half an inch. Then there she was out in the open tank water doing what you see in the video. So idk how long she had been out but she basically woke yp today with all these new roommates. That video was taken basically right after lights on. Plan was to keep her in the box until Tues at least.

As for the flow, its not all that intense, I have a yellow candy hogfish that's like 1/3 her size and he gets around ok. I don't mind turning it down a bit tho if it helps her out.

I just lost my Rhomboid after 4 months Never saw any sign was hiding then gone.

Like others have mentioned it’s really just the flow it’s not used to. I was wrong saying UNWD, but that’s why I asked for a video. Helps a lot. Great looking wrasse. Just leave some time for her to settle and monitor the damsel
