The two clowns are probably leaving my main tank and headed to the nano, unfortunately. Let the female loose from her acclimation box jail cell and all the wrasses immediately went to the back (yellow and blue star were already in the sand when I started pulling out the acclimation box, so maybe they'll come out eventually). Brunneus is hanging in the back and peering around corners nervously. Female clown chased him a few times. :angry-face:

So... what goes in next? I have the rubeus on the way, which was meant to be my last fish. Now with the clowns leaving, I'm thinking of one more wrasse.

Currently will be:
P. ataenia x 2
C. brunneus
C. rubeus
H. chrysus
M. bipartitis

Ideas: C. exquisitus, C. lubbocki... C. isosceles would be interesting, but that is also a Lunatus Complex, along with the brunneus, so conflict? A Pseudojuloides would be very interesting, but I don't know where I'd find one, or if it'd be affordable, or if it would make it through QT...

I got my dad a Brunneus, and there hasn’t been any beef with his pintail (although pintail is a relatively small female).

No aggression from the brunneus so far. It is a very aggressive feeder though, and sometimes spooks the Vivien, pintail, and a few others just because of how hard it goes after food.

Okay… I admit it, I’m weak to wrasses.

My LFS has a ‘pair’ (we all know what will happen) of these guys;
(Photo is accurate to the male’s appearance).

Did I just have to inquire about if the female would be sold separately? Yes. Was it? Only if a replacement could appear. So… either way I may have a smaller female of this species eventually. I don’t know if I’ll definitely go for it but with the plan to remove the jade and have a larger tank, I’ll possibly go for one.

P.s. I used to bully this fish for its looks, now look where I am. I’ve learnt if I bully a fish I tend to like it… maybe it’s me trying not to have the fish because I know I’ll want it deep down. And yes, this question is still in the air. I may get a female as I’ve seen too many nice males now but I may leave it as I may find a nicer wrasse (I.e. Piscilineatus).

I have two Lunar Wrasse and a Dusky Wrasse in my 220g. One Lunar is about 6" the smaller 3". The Dusky Wrasse is about 4". I just saw my larger lunar and the dusky swimming side by side each other flashing their colors. It was stunning to watch. It was the first time I saw my Dusky with the bright green. It has always been very dark green almost black. They were not attacking each other. Just swimming side by side flashing. The lunar going between bright blue to bright green and the dusky doing bright green and dark green. Just beautiful display.

My newest…. Beau’s Fairy ( C. Beauperryi) I can’t remember the last time I saw one so I had to get it, it’s an addiction. I knew there would be a problem with my Orangeback ( constant aggression while it still was in the acclimation box) so I removed it to another tank.

They’re both the same fish, Paracheilinus hemitaeniatus (Or Hemi as that scientific is both a pain to pronounce and spell) is also the Madagascan Half Bar Flasher Wrasse (Equally as long as the scientific is to say).

Would a Christmas wrasse do good in a 75 gallon tank with 2 clowns, cherub angel, tomini tang, Whitecheek tang, YWG, 2 cleaner gobies? Tangs are both 1.25 inches and peaceful. The cleaner gobies haven’t been added yet but are planning to be added

There’s a salt streak on the glass and benereef in the water, but still a decent photo of my exquisite who was all flared up and just staring at me.

And not a very good photo, but a cute one of the exquisite and pintail having some snacks together during the rock flower spawn tonight.
