At a quick glance you’d say a species from the Paracheilinus filamentosus complex but I would honestly say you have probably gotten a young female Paracheilinus carpenteri - I’ll try find a photo of my Carpenteri when he was female.
I think it’s indeed the carpenteri, body looks exactly like the Live aquaria female. The dorsal fin is slightly different where he/she is starting to get the 2 or 3 long fin in the mature/male picture.

He’s becoming a bit of a bully but look how big he’s gotten!

He’s gorgeous. Nice and fat too!

That’s the issue I have in my nano, my fish have become extremely skinny because I’ve been waiting on a pod culture at my LFS to establish so I’ve not had pods for a few weeks now. I’ve got another 10 bags coming on Thursday but added 4 today along with more feedings. Hopefully they’re not too far gone.

Which fox are you getting?!
I will get the one spot (unimaculatus). I think it is the better one for a smaller tank. It is only 83 gal (48" x 20" x 20"). Might be small for a vulpix or uspi, although I also like the uspi. I'm not a huge fan of magnificus.

Or… what about a Tongan black?

What species is that? I think it's a striking fish, but I've never seen it around here.
Siganus niger

The LA photo is pretty awful…

Haven't seen those around.
They come in but it’s every so often - I swooped that guy up when I saw him (well, that was after I was contemplating if I didn’t like them - then he went camo into white).
It’s literally a solid black Foxface - I was going to try hunt down another but went for a uspi. The white facial band fades between black and very light grey almost white depending on mood.

Rhomboid looking at pellets and saying “what the heck, I said I wanted shrimp!”

I’ve never had this happen before… but I was thawing out some shrimp. When I began to rinse it I found a small fish of some type that was frozen in with the shrimp. Not even sure what this is or how Hikari would have had one of these end up in a package of mysis…

Well in typical me fashion I tried to add this nice sand bed to the acclimation box after the fish and of course the leopard escaped…
IMG_1099.jpeg

But I do think this is a good qt/acclimation sand bed design.

tanking down qt tank and 220 display. All those fish and fish held in clean tank at a friends house all need homes. Not selling in thread but letting you all know some cool wrasse are available and even maybe a few Madagascar coming in. Cough cough.
I’ll stop in and drool on all yours every now and then.

If only I was in the US, I’d love a couple of the species you have!
