Question for you wrasse lovers!

My LFS has the ability to order an Cirrhilabrus rubriventralis. I was really hoping to get a Cirrhilabrus Rubeus. These are two different fish correct?
Kind of. Though it is almost certainly a rubeus they are able to order not a rubriventralis. Rubeus used to be included in rubriventralis and most suppliers still use it.

Pretty much all this, rubriventralis is found in the Red Sea only whereas rubeus has the wider range.

… when things line up just right.

I wish I knew what happened to my Female Madagascan, I don’t normally like this species but she was gorgeous.

Adding the first of my fairy wrasses today, orange back fairy and a velvet yellow band fairy wrasse to my 210 today. What other great fairy wrasse options can I add after these guys. Wanting to add at least 3 more fairy wrasses. My list of potentials.
Lineatus
Pink margin
Exquisite (Vanuatu or maldives)
Katherine's.
Exquisitus could go in fairly soon now, I’d aim for a Maldives variation out of the two but I swear I’m not biased!
Katherinae would be next IMO, the other two on your list are quite boisterous and would want to be added last. Ideally with the Lineatus before the Rubrimarginatus if you’re buying them all separately.

But why finish with just 6 wrasses? What about… 20!
Here’s my wrasse list for a 5’ 180G tank.

same, except for me it was my earl’s…
about 3 or 4 weeks back i woke up and found him floating upside down under a fragrack with his mouth open… dead.

was eating fine and swimming around before lights out, next morning dead.
and i don’t have a clue why?
no marks on his body, no bloating and certainly no aggression from the other tankmates since he ran the tank!

my only rational guess is,
i got a bit sloppy with super glue and maybe he ingested some?
i dunno, but it was certainly a sad sight as he was the most personable fish…
would literally get right on the glass and stare me in my eyes, both our faces right on the glass!
:(

Thank you both. So I should probably be good to have them order it and expect to receive a Rubeus.

Unfortunately my lineatus has a spinal injury down to my flame back angel battering him so I think I’ll likely lose him this week as I initially it wasn’t too bad but has slowly declined. Fingers crossed he survives though.

So sad. Lineatus are only ones I had spinal issues with and both were aggressive but they seem to spook easily and get jumpy.
Fingers crossed for him

The pinkie put a smile on my face. Your blue star makes me want one. She may edge out a choats or viviens in the new tank.
Those pinkies do so well in this tank with the others playing nice. It almost makes me nervous about the upgrade to 80gal and adding more wrasses. I could make another tank for them, though...
