The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

Those pinkies do so well in this tank with the others playing nice. It almost makes me nervous about the upgrade to 80gal and adding more wrasses. I could make another tank for them, though...
I’ll be honest when you move them a chance things can turn or adding to them. Keep doing what you been doing and have a little luck you should be okay. So many tiny factors to change an outcome. Even more time spent around them can sway aggression.

Heed not the naysayers, they haven't your interests at heart! Indubitably, the blue star is perfection in piscine form!

I just got a pair of blue stars. They're amazing!

Eightline Flasher getting more brave over the past few days.

Had him in an acclimation box for 2 days and none of the other tank mates seemed to mind him so I released him into the DT. The moment he went in, both my pintail and yellow wrasse chased him into hiding. I usually shoot some frozen mysis down by his hideout with a turkey baster and he’ll come out for a bit to eat before running back in.

Thought I might add this one here. I was helped to ID it recently as

Pseudolabrus guentheri

He has become a great character, building/digging a nest behind the rocks, and eyeing me off if I don't have food when I come and stare into his domain.

I put two stripeys in with him, and he killed one, but has adopted the other as his pet. Strange. Maybe the initial reaction to new fish was to kill, then he realised it wasn't necessary.

My pair of pink streaks are still hanging out! The female has definitely grown since getting her.

Are a Melenarus and an earmuff likely to get along in an 80g?
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work - I’d get the Earmuff in prior to the Melanurus if you can though.

I just ordered a pair myself! Can't wait for them to arrive. I have an amphipod population I want them to decimate...
They will definitely knock that down, these are some of my favourite wrasses I have currently and they’re the longest I’ve had as a favourite.

I've been looking for them for like...years. Very hard to come by. I hope these get along well. They were imported in August and have been cohabitating since then, so at least they are used to life in captivity and to each other at this point. All in it was like $139 for the pair including shipping, which is like $20 more than my local shop charges for one (which they essentially never have in stock).

I have a tank that desperately needs wrasse. Almost all LPS and with all the coral feeding, the amphipods have gotten out of hand. They are sampling the corals at this point.

They will definitely knock that down, these are some of my favourite wrasses I have currently and they’re the longest I’ve had as a favourite.
