Males and yes they will fight or one will stress the other out to slow death eventually . That’s his stressed colors

Think you made it slightly obvious
I’m confused…. So both are males? Right now both are in QT tank. Should I not add them both to Display tank? I only ordered one, but ended up with two. New to this so don’t quite understand the comments…

Both will eventually turn male, fight, on one will die. “Mated pairs” for fairy wrasses is a made up term by online sellers. Submales can exist in large harems in the ocean where aggression is dispersed but not in a small tank.

I have a yellow coris (spelling) that’s a perfect angel and a melanarus that behaves well with the other fish and is policed by my flame angel, but is naughty otherwise. He flips my favite on the sand and eats all my small snails. I’m sure the eating of the snails will never change (I now just buy huge ones) but am wondering….when he goes from adolescence to adulthood, will he be less naughty?

Because it's not a Coris.

My melanurus is fine with my leucoxanthus and my Leopard. He doesn't bother any of the other fish and he's a fully grown, fully mature male. I'd say it's potentially because my Tomini and Starry keep him in check maybe but I don't see any aggression from them towards him.

I had a Peppermint that they left alone for a while but I haven't seen it in about a month so I'd say not anymore. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

If the tank is 4ft long, I would add a radiant (Halichoeres iridis). 4 fter is also better for a chrysus and leucoxanthus, but mine is OK in the 3fter (going soon to the 4fter).

Thinking a Biocellatus may be the route I go, sort of coming around on the Leucoxanthus too.

Is a Melanurus not a viable candidate? Such a pretty fish.

My melanurus is a great wrasse but there's a lot of people with way more experience than me that have different experiences with them.
