Ya. My lfs guy drives down to LA to hand pick for me. Selection down there has been total crap for the last few weeks.
This is true. My QT person gets stock from LA and hasn't had much luck lately. I want a small-medium one spot foxface, small-medium CBB, a P. cyaneus and a P. angulatus. He's also on constant lookout for Pseudojuloides severnsi. Currently he's on foun a Carpenter and an exquisite fairy from my list :-(

He came back with this one from fiji which I haven’t seen in person before

We must get first picks lol. Just seen a bunch of various flashers that looked good. Weird.

Never hurts to wait but no need to wait. Dump some pods and add amphipods as they are bigger and the favorite for wrasse.
This little girl was dumped in the tank same day it was started. She just woke up very hungry

OK, well my LFS has this little girl for about 3 weeks and I decided to pull the trigger yesterday. Seems to be doing great in the acclimate box. Is eating mysis/brine/artic pods and slept overnight in the tupperware sand.

Going to keep feeding her heavily for the next few days before I release. Pintail photo bomb getting a big belly!

I can't say whether or not it's similar to a Mel or not, as I haven't owned one.
My dusky can be a little pushy, especially with my smaller Timor wrasse, but dusky holds his own against the red coris and large Niger trigger. He's a fun fish to watch, definitely a beautiful wrasse.

I just got a red coris who is just starting color transition to go with my Dusky. Glad to see they will look as good together as I thought! I saw the coris at my LFS was so vibrant and active swimming all out front. Got it home and into QT and it came right out exploring the tank and rockwork. Added frozen plankton (bigger than traditional mysis) and it shot right after the food and sucked it down. Can't wait to get her in the tank with the Dusky. My Dusky is 6" (looks bigger). Grew so fast.
