What do you guys think of a pair of balteatus, pair of flames, and a pair of royal flashers in a single red sea max 650?

axe the scott's since they're too aggressive in my experience with them.
Go a single of each, then add 3 more different. Pairs don't usually stay as fairies and flashers transition into makes and fight in our aquariums.

I see, in previous tanks (my old 120), I went with two females of each fairy or flasher and eventually one transitions to a male. I never had the other one turn male either, but does that happen over the long run? If so I guess I'll just get multiple different kinds, I liked how they pair up and act that's why I wanted pairs

In most cases the 2nd female will eventually transition. Males will still display to males of closely related species.

I was right there with you on the pairs. But advice received from @eatbreakfast and @evolved said that it wouldn't work long term well.

Some of the most peaceful wrasses include Pseudocheilinops aetaenia, the Wetmorella species, Pseudojuloides species, the lunatus complex of fairies, C. rhomboidalis, balteatus, and H. chrysus. There are others, but these are some of the most consistently peaceful I have had dealings with.

I see, that I did not know since it never happened to me. Guess it was one of those things where I never had the fish long enough for it to do that.

Yeah, definitely helps and makes me rethink my fish idea a bit. That's why I ask, I know I'll get good advice here lol!

OK, I could make a short story long, but let's keep it short.
I had a 200 gallon, but a family situation required a move from our previous home.
Our (new build) home can only support a 90 gallon cube in the living room.
I am Blue/Green Color blind, that makes the boss in charge of color.
Boss (read wife) say's new tank has to have a Christmas wrasse (she loved ours).
Unfortunately :) I let her see this thread.
I love the wrasses I had for their personality, but she loved them for their color.
She wants to know what the avatar pictures for:
Evolved
Paul87
are.
Sure it is not going to be cheap but she now want's them in the new tank.
Thanks folks.
As you ("GUYS") know "If mamma ant happy nobody is happy" in this hobby.
Rick
