Already it is coming out shyly during the day and is eating frozen voraciously. Thanks for the help! I can't wait till it is more comfortable and swims closer to the display pane rather than the rocks :)

Yes, an acclimation box should be used. I don't put sand in, but make sure the leopard doesn't get too agitated and damage it's jaw trying to get out or bury.

I always use one. A box with a white bottom helps a lot to prevent the fish from stressing or injuring themselves trying to "escape" through the bottom.

So it has been 2 weeks now and my M. melegris still appears to be doing very well. Constantly busy, out all day, and eating like a pig. Couldnt be happier with the little dude. Loves hunting in my zoas!

I'm so glad he is continuing to do well, they are are such beautiful fish. I love their level of activity as well (well, Wrasses in general haha). :) Great news!

There's no answer to that; it depends on the hierarchy in your tank. It may be a few weeks, to many months, and possibly never - if another fish is very dominant over him.

It's an initial phase male. Sometimes they will become terminal phase within a few weeks, sometimes a year, sometimes never. It is dependant on the social situation more than anything else.

This will be the first fairy wrasse in the tank. Should I get some female lineatus for him or he will stay male. Also, I plan to add a a pair of pintails (c isosceles) will they be compatible and get along with the lineatus?

Males do not need females to maintain their 'maleness'. In fact, keeping males of different species often leads to dramatic displays and good coloration.

If the tank is 80g+ lineatus and isoscoles will coexist just find. Though I suggest skipping the pr and just getting one specimen per species.

Yup; I don't do pairs at all anymore - it's not worth the headache when you're keeping multiple species.

Skip females of both species and just stick with singles of each.

Any info on temperament on the Tono's fairy wrasse? I have a small pintail, leopard, and decent size pink margin.
