A lineatus, pylei, & brunneus (all medium male) just became available from the supplier my guy orders from. I really like them all. Price is of course gonna play a role, but which of the 3 (if any) would mix well in my tank? Current wrasses are:
-M. melagris
-C. isosceles
-C. cf cyanopleura
-C. rubriventralis

Lineatus would mix best. Brunneus is in the same complex as isoscoles, and pylei can be aggressive toward other fairies.

I was hoping you would lean towards the lineatus. I know my pink margin got a little aggressive, I figured the pylei would be the same or worse. The males are so nice looking though. Didn't know the brunneus was in the same complex as my baby, pass on him for sure. Thanks.

Rubriventralis and lineatus might squabble, especially in a smaller tank.
Thanks for the info, but I have already placed the order though! If this is the case the rubriventralis can be rehomed. Social acclimation will be done of course. Tanks is small, 40 breeder. My isosceles and rubriventralis already circle each other all the time. It's not what I would consider aggression of concern, it's actually funny. Things can always change towards adulthood though.

6 fish? Filtration is being met. As long as there is not stress or drama happening I was thinking I was OK. Definitely at my limit I agree though. I may get rid of the Midas blenny. He's kind of a jerk. Wrasses are all doing good and the tiny rainfordi goby you usually can't ever find, sometimes looking right at him. I need a tank upgrade so bad, but that's gonna have to be up to misses... Lol

Lineatus tend to get kinda big for a 40b IMO. I feel bad keeping my ruby in a 90, not trying to be the wrasse police, maybe should should go a bit larger for more swimming room.

The lineatus came in late today. Just got him/her(?) into the social acclimation box after water acclimation. @Jstn I hear you and I agree for the most part. I actually looked at a couple used larger tanks today. I snapped this quick photos after doing into the box.

She's beautiful, smaller too, I would have a hard time saying no to her in my crowded wrasse orgy

Hunter and TJ, do you guys know anything about this wrasse? Where it was collected, what is it related to, is it really a new species?

Google "Cherry fairy wrasse" - its discovery was announced ... want to say a few weeks ago? It appears to be related to the flame wrasse, from what I've read.

~Bruce, not TJ or Hunter, but hoping to be helpful . . .

It's a new species in the flame wrasse complex,as Bruce mentioned. It is found in the Philippines. It was collected a few weeks ago for the first time, but based on price, doesn't appear to be uber rare. It was referred to as cherry wrasse, but it seems the distributors are going with the name magma wrasse.

Tried to take a little video of the new lineatus in the social acclimation box, she wasn't really liking the camera too much so I cut it short. Haven't seen any of the others trying to get to it, may not need to be in the SA box long I'm thinking. This is a female correct? Sorry for the low quality video.
