The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

After 4 days of hiding I came home from work to see this little beauty out! I was like a kid at Christmas!

Hey 4 days isn't bad. She's a cutie. [emoji106]

Is there any online vendor that is above the rest as far as wrasses go? I've Googled a bit but I can't seem to find anything but the "common" species.

I am happy to finally be in the position to start collecting wrasses and plan to keep a few single male flashers and fairies. I think i read somewhere to begin with flashers and then add fairies after in terms of order. Is that correct? Id like to begin purchasing them one or a couple at a time and would like to make sure which to start with. Thanks and any species suggestions are very much appreciated.

Usually flashers are smaller than fairies, so starting with them is good. Most fairies and flashers will do well together, though there are a few species of fairy wrasses that are known to be aggressive, such as scott's, lanceolatus, and whipfin.

thanks for the heads up, the crescent was bullied earlier this week.

I may just have to bite the bullet and sell him if he gets bullied more.

I had the same issue with the same exact fish. Luckily I was able to snatch up the bully. He's always swimming right up to my hand so it was easy. Dumped him into my frag system.

Very cool to see - though not nearly "the only specimen available in the U.S." - I've seen them on several of the online dealers' websites. The prices they're asking (including this LFS) seem surprisingly reasonable to me for a newly discovered species.

Yeah, they're pretty regularly available.

I actually just got a conditioned magma specimen yesterday, for considerably less $$ too. Increasing availability now so prices are dropping fast.
