Just picked up this Katherine's wrasse as I don't see them too often. Anyone have any experience with these?

LOL....I have a red Coris Wrasse....I got him as a juvenile a couple of years ago....he was like maybe a inch and a half.....now he is transitioning to adult colors. So I have no real clean up crew. No shrimps or hermits, or even snails. I do have some brittle and serpent stars though, they are nocternal for the most part so they don't get eaten.....if on ventures out during the day day, he goes after them......he doesn't bother coral, but you have to glue everything to heavy rock....or he flips them over. Yea you are smart to have a tank designated to non reef safe Wrasses....

I think it’s an adult Formosa wrasse or red Coris.
I miss my Formosa but he was a terror

Thanks..... pretty fish! Yea I think the Formosa is similar to the red Coris in behavior....I am glad mine is a big baby and not agressive. He has a funny personality though....if you stick your hand in the tank he flops on his side all dramatic and plays dead... LOL....you can even pick him up like that and move him..... he's a good actor....

Same here...mine was one of easiest wrasses to acclimate. No hiding in the rocks or sand for days. It was out and about eating right away and still is......

I agree, mine is very timid and right at the bottom of the social hierarchy in my tank. Almost bordering on shy, always hanging about in his safe spot, ducking away whenever my Dusky wrasse gets too close. Stays up late, and even eats out of my hand when I target feed the corals at night.

I'd like to get some thought on my isosceles. I got it as a female in July 2016.

Is it still a female, a transitioning male, or terminal male? What are the telltale signs of a transitioning and terminal male in the species?

He/she is very timid and share the tank with a few much more dominant wrasses, which I suspect is why the transition isn't much further already.

Luckily also my most photogenic wrasse, always willing to pose for a photo.

Looks to be a transitioning male to me but not terminal. The tail gets much more pointed and blue dots appear on the lateral line and under the dorsal fin (or did on mine).

I called LiveAquaria--they said sometimes it's a computer error. Who knows. Quality Marine is only about 45 minutes away from me. The package is in Anaheim right now (which is about 5 minutes from my house). It doesn't help that we're in the middle of a 100+ degree heat wave right now.

I tore down my tank multiple times trying to catch it ... and could never find it when buried in the sand hiding ... almost had me quit until one day it decided to jump out a year ago!

Oh man......yea I would contact the vendor for sure! Is it possible to contact the shipper to pick it up?

I had a red coris and it was an absolute nightmare ... no cleaner crew was safe ... flipped corals over constantly (no matter how well I glued frags down.)

I tore down my tank multiple times trying to catch it ... and could never find it when buried in the sand hiding ... almost had me quit until one day it decided to jump out a year ago!

Oh man....yea I thought about taking him out a few times due to all the coral flipping, but improvised and had to glue all colonies to heavy live rock....and I don't buy frags....just big colonies....and if course no clean up crew....but other than that he is good with all my leopards....
