Hi yall, I literally just started a new salt water 20 gal tank today and I had one of the top fin glass thermometers inside. I went to move it but my dumb mistake was I squeezed it from the top and the glass broke into my finger tips. I believe all the glass stayed on my finger tips I immediately removed it, I then removed the rest of the thermometer. Do I need to do a full water change ? Is it okay? Is there any liquid on the outer side of the thermometer that could’ve gone into the water ?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Is this one of the red alcohol thermometers? If so, even if the red fluid leaks out, they are non toxic because the amount of alcohol is very small. Just remove all the glass so that you don’t get jabbed by it later.

Thank you! It is the red thermometer, and only the outside shell broke not the actual thermometer inside so the red didn’t leak out.
